Valentia Island, County Kerry, Ireland

Located just off Kerry’s magnificent Iveragh peninsula, Valentia Island is famous for being the site where the first successful transatlantic telegraph cable was landed in 1857. Linked to the mainland by a road bridge, Valentia is noted for its fabulous seascapes, mountain views and water sports. It also has the most westerly port in Europe and the main village of Knightstown has a good selection of shops, pubs and restaurants.
